Eye Makeup Tricks

Eye Makeup TricksAre you hunting for eye makeup tricks? If so, you're in good company. A lot of people have no idea how to apply eye makeup to get the exact look they want. The good news is that there are tips and hints you can learn that will help you become more successful.

Applying Eye Makeup Tricks Preparing your Eyes:

Just like your face, your eyes can use a good foundation. A primer keeps your eye makeup from getting greasy so that the blending stays clean. You want an even canvas for your creation. Remember to match your overall makeup's textures. Use powder foundation for powder eye shadow and liquid for a cream eye shadow. (See Eye Shadow Base for more info)

Colors & Shading:

One of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to match their eye shadow to their clothing or accessories. You need to look at your skin tone, hair, and eyes for guidance instead. Redheads look great in peach, pink, and copper. Blonds look lovely in pastels. Gray hair loves purple and blue. Finally brown haired people can wear pretty much anything.

No matter the color, however, shading is important. Remember to blend so there are no visible creases in your makeup. This is doubly important if you have any wrinkles or fine lines around your eyes. (See How to choose your Eye Shadow by Eye Color for more info)

Methods:

Applying Eye Shadow TricksSimplicity can be perfect for a casual setting. Eye makeup tricks say - just pick out one color and cover the eyelid up to the crease line with it. To this, a light touch of mascara works well (don't go too heavy or it will look like fake lashes).

If you feel like your eyes don't pop, use an eye pencil in the crease. This creates the illusion of depth. As before, keep your mascara simple (note: you can still use a colored mascara, just don't overdo it). If you take a darker shade from the crease to midway to the eyebrow and blend it effectively, your eyes will look bigger.

Eye Makeup Tricks Use eyeliner for drama – thin at the inner edge and getting thicker toward the outer edge. If you're doing a smoky eye, you can go slightly beyond the end of the eye to tie everything together with the liner.

Remember that if your eyes are set back, use light colors to bring them forward. Narrow eyes benefit from applications that go beyond the farthest corner of the eye from the nose, whereas wide eyes look best with the focus toward the nose.

Eyes that seem to protrude need warm colors, and large eyes love those shades too. Small eyes enjoy shine and shimmer (no black!)

Summary:

It doesn't matter if you've worn makeup for years, or are just beginning knowing the basic eye makeup tricks will help with your overall look and feel. Avoid too much makeup in daylight in particular. You can be more dramatic at night. No matter what, the natural look is very appealing to many. Find what you like and practice till its perfect.
