Choosing your Eye Shadow by Eye Color is the best way to make sure that your eye makeup accentuates your eyes. You can have the most beautiful eye makeup in the world, but if it doesn't serve to enhance your natural beauty, all that anyone will notice is that you have nice makeup - and that's not the point! Ideally, you don't even want people to notice your eye makeup - you want them to say you have beautiful eyes, not beautiful eye makeup.

Before you even begin to choose your eye shadow colors, you need to think about intensity. What is your overall coloring? Are you fair with light coloring - if so you want to stick with lighter eye makeup, pastels and brown mascara and eyeliner. The deeper or more intense your coloring, the deeper and heavier you can go with your eye make up.

Anyone can wear neutral colors - browns, taupes, peaches, etc. Here is a trick to find your perfect eye shadow based on your eye color. Look at your eyes closely in a mirror in natural sunlight. Pick one of the many colors in your eye and match your eye shadow to it. You will end up with the most flattering eye makeup because it is "custom" matched to your own unique eye color. Do the same thing to choose a darker color from your eyes for your eyeliner. This technique can even work with blue eyes if you are very careful about the color you choose - for the most part blue eye shadow just does not work on blue eyes - but dark (think navy) blue eyeliner is stunning and would work best with a neutral (light brown, pink) shadow.
